THE WALKING DEAD – My rating: 8/10

TheWalkingDeadI resisted getting into The Walking Dead.  I didn’t particularly like any so called zombie type movies.  However, I kept hearing that I would absolutely love The Walking Dead because it was different.  I decided to go against my principle of “no zombie movies” and watch The Walking Dead.  I quickly caught up to the current season and you guessed it, they were almost right, I really liked it.

Having said that, I have to state the obvious.  The Walking Dead revolves around Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln), a sheriff/police officer who woke up out of a coma and found the world filled with zombies and his family missing.  Eventually he caught up to his family and was elected by their circle of living humans to be the leader of the group.   Together with his young son and wife they began the journey to find help, a resolution and an explanation for this horrific situation.

The Walking Dead is as gory as they get.  Zombies eating freshly captured humans is not a pretty site.  Blood is everywhere and often you can see a multitude of zombies with bloody bodies and faces with guts and other internal organs hanging from their mouths.  This zombie thing is a nasty business.  The only way to kill them is to destroy the brain with a bullet or knife to the head or just smash the crap out of their head.   It seems everyone has this disease whether you are living or dead but you’re not turned to a zombie unless you die.  There are hundreds of thousands of these zombies everywhere.  They can detect when a human is in their midst and quickly go after them.  One bite from a zombie and we’re done. The idea is to surround a human, tear them apart, then chow down.   The living are feeling pretty hopeless and tired of the fight.  We are into the 5th season and I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.  In fact, I’ve grown tired of all my favorite characters being killed off.  I think it’s time to end The Walking Dead before everyone starts to feel as I do and the ratings take a deep plunge.  It’s still an excellent series but there’s no improvement of any kind for the living.  Everywhere you go, there’s zombies.  Every time someone dies, another zombie is created.   I can’t imagine living in a world like that.  It would be hard to keep the faith under these circumstances.  I can’t wait to see how they end this series.
